In the clear version, it protects the headlights from gravel and scratches without changing their appearance. In the smoked black version, it gives the Discovery's headlights a darker, bolder look.

Why apply a film to your Discovery 5 headlights

Cut to fit the Discovery 5 L462: two pieces, left and right, ready to apply.

Self-healing TPU: minor scratches fade away with heat.

Anti-gravel protection for headlights, which are expensive to replace on this model.

Two shades: clear for protection, smoked black for customization.

Installation tools included: squeegee and spray bottle.

Tinted headlight film or clear film: choosing the right one

The clear film is pure protection: it maintains the original lighting output and can stay in place all year round. The smoked black tinted film is an aesthetic accessory. Smoked film on a headlight reduces the light output and changes the headlight's approval: it is not permitted on public roads in France and may result in a re-inspection at the technical inspection. Reserve it for off-road use, car meets, or display vehicles, and choose the clear version for everyday driving.

The material: a flexible, self-healing TPU

The film is made of TPU, which is flexible and durable: it conforms to the headlights' curves and withstands impacts from small pieces of gravel. Its self-healing surface layer erases micro-scratches in the sun. It can be removed without leaving adhesive residue on the headlight's polycarbonate.

On a 4x4 like the Discovery, which is often used on dirt roads and for towing, the front headlights receive a lot of debris. The polycarbonate gets pitted, scratched, and then yellows, and replacing an L462 LED headlight is expensive. A clear headlight protection film, applied within the first few months, keeps headlights clear and shiny for much longer.

Applying the film to your Discovery 5 headlights

Clean and degrease the headlights. Spray soapy water on the headlight and the film, position the piece on its side, then squeegee out the water and bubbles from the center toward the edges. A light application of heat helps it conform to the curves. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, a film installer can complete the job quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Is tinted headlight film approved?
No: smoked film reduces the lighting output and is not permitted on public roads in France; only the clear film is suitable for everyday use.

Is this film suitable for the Discovery Sport?
No, the cut is designed for the Discovery 5 L462; the Discovery Sport has differently shaped headlights.

Does the clear film reduce the lighting output?
Very little: it is designed to remain clear and preserve the original beam.

Can it be removed?
Yes, by heating it slightly; it peels off without leaving any residue.

Becquet Voiture: Land Rover accessories in detail

A Discovery lasts a long time: protecting its headlights helps avoid an expensive replacement.
