Which recovery strap to choose for a car? A strap rated for at least twice the unladen weight of the towed vehicle, i.e., 3 tons for a city car and 5 tons for an SUV.
Is a tow lock really useful? Yes: an uncoupled trailer can be stolen in ten seconds with a simple vehicle equipped with a ball. The lock blocks the closed coupling head.
Can you tow with a simple bumper ring? Only for a short recovery at low speed. The ring is a pulling point, not a coupling approved for permanent load.
