The 2023-2025 Mazda CX-50 comes with a set of crossbars designed for its factory longitudinal rails. The CX-50 was designed for outdoor use, with higher ground clearance and a wider track than the CX-5: it is the model in the range where roof cargo capacity makes the most sense.
The 2024-2025 seven-seat Mazda CX-90 presents a different problem: with the third row deployed, the trunk is reduced to just a few dozen liters. Roof bars then become essential rather than just convenient, allowing you to use all seven seats without leaving half your luggage at home.
The 2021-2025 Mazda BT-50 is a pickup truck: the bed already provides most of the volume, but roof bars are used to carry items that should not be left exposed or that exceed the bed's length. They mount to the cab's mounting points without drilling.
Anodized aluminum is the right compromise for this use: lighter than steel, it does not rust at the contact points and withstands loading cycles without warping. Always respect the maximum roof load indicated by Mazda in the manual: it includes the weight of the bars themselves.

Frequently asked questions
How much weight can I carry on the roof? The limit is stated in the vehicle manual, generally between 75 and 100 kg depending on the model, including the bars. Exceeding it degrades handling and can damage the mounting points.
Do the bars whistle while driving? An aerodynamic profile greatly reduces noise, but no cargo carrier is completely silent above 110 km/h. Remove them when you are not using them: the savings are also visible in fuel consumption.
Should I remove them when going through an automatic car wash? Yes, always. The rollers and brushes are not designed to go around a cargo carrier, and the risk is just as great for the bars as it is for the roof.
