Hyundai LED taillights: modernize the rear signature

Nothing dates a car like incandescent taillights. Replacing the units with LED taillights instantly transforms the nighttime signature of an Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe, or Genesis Coupé, bringing the car closer visually to the current models in the range.

The sequential turn signal — the one that sweeps from the inside out — is the most sought-after effect on the 2016-2018 Elantra. The OLED versions offered for the 2011-2014 Sonata go even further: the light is diffused by a continuous surface, without hot spots, exactly like the recent premium units.

Beyond style, LED brings a real safety gain. It reaches its full intensity in a few milliseconds, compared to several tenths of a second for an incandescent bulb. At 90 km/h, this represents several meters of anticipation for the driver following you when you brake.

Installation consists of removing the trunk trim, disconnecting the original connector, and unclipping the unit. Some kits install in plug and play on the existing wiring harness; others require a load resistor module to prevent the computer from signaling a burnt-out bulb, as the power consumption of an LED is much lower.

Be careful with regulations: in France, only approved lights respecting the intended colors and intensities are allowed. A rear unit that is too smoked, which reduces the visibility of the brake light or the turn signal, is a reason for a re-inspection. Our guides detail what passes and what does not.

Compatible with the entire Hyundai range

The units offered target specific Hyundai models: Elantra 2016-2018 in the sequential version, Sonata 2011-2014 in OLED, Santa Fe 2001-2006 and Genesis Coupé in Sport trim. A taillight is a piece designed for a given fender and trunk: the generation must match exactly.

Compatible models: Elantra 2016-2018, Sonata 2011-2014, Santa Fe 2001-2006, Genesis Coupé Sport.

Why choose this collection?

  • Modern signature: sequential turn signals and OLED diffusion, the visual language of recent models.
  • Increased safety: almost instantaneous ignition of the brake light, several meters of anticipation gained.
  • Longevity: an LED lasts thousands of hours where a bulb is regularly replaced.
  • Documented installation: original connectors reused and load resistor modules when the computer requires it.

Frequently asked questions

Is a load resistor module needed? Often yes. An LED consumes too little for the computer, which thinks it detects a burnt-out bulb. The module restores a consistent load. The product sheets specify if the kit already includes it.

Are LED taillights allowed in France? Only approved units, with the right colors and intensities, are allowed. The very smoked versions that reduce the visibility of the brake light or turn signal lead to a re-inspection. Our dedicated guide details the regulations.

Is the installation within my reach? It remains accessible: removal of the trunk trim, disconnection of the connector, unclipping of the unit. Allow one to two hours with a set of wrenches and replacement clips, following our step-by-step guide.
