Car window tinting: windows, headlights and bodywork protection
A car window tint meets three needs: less heat and glare, more privacy, and a sportier look. This collection brings together three families: tinted solar film for windows, tinted film for headlights and taillights, and clear protective film against gravel and scratches.
Why choose our car films?
- Three uses: windows, headlights and paint protection in a single collection.
- UV protection: solar window film reduces interior heat and protects seats from the sun.
- Rolls and pre-cut films: 30 cm rolls for headlights, pre-cut films for certain models.
- DIY installation: soapy water, squeegee, patience: no workshop fees.
A summer scene you know
It's 3 PM, the car has heated up in the full sun. The children are restless in the back, the bag placed on the bench seat is visible from the sidewalk. Film on the rear windows changes everyday life: less heat, more privacy.
Which film to choose?
Solar film for rear windows
Car solar film is applied to the rear windows and rear windshield. It's the right choice for privacy, UV protection and summer comfort. Some films are electrostatic, so they are glue-free. For a car window tint kit or pre-cut car window tint film, check that the shape matches your model.
Tinted film for headlights (PVC or TPU roll)
For a smoked style on headlights and taillights, the collection offers 30 cm rolls in PVC and TPU, as well as tinted protective film for headlights. TPU is more flexible and thermoformable: it follows curves better. A car window tint roll can be cut by hand.
Clear PPF protective film
Car PPF film protects paint or headlights from gravel and scratches, without changing the color. Pre-cut clear films are available for Volkswagen Golf 7 and Audi Q8, SQ8 and RS Q8 headlights. Black side protective film is also available for the Seat Leon Cupra 5F.
The criterion that prevents mistakes: light transmission and dimensions
Always check the light transmission rate: the lower it is, the darker the film. Then check the roll dimensions compared to the window or headlight to be covered.
Legality, installation and maintenance
Car window tint: what the law says in France
Since January 1, 2017, the windshield and front side windows (driver and passenger) must allow at least 70% of light to pass through, i.e., a maximum opacity of 30%. Only the rear windows and rear windshield can be darker. The penalty is a €135 fine and 3 points deducted. Exceptions: medical reasons, armored vehicles. On headlights, the lights must remain compliant in color and intensity: on public roads, tinted film on lights, even light, can be penalized and refused at the technical inspection. Smoked film for headlights is reserved for show cars or track cars; for everyday driving, prefer clear protective film.
Installation: avoid bubbles
Clean the surface thoroughly, wet it with soapy water, place the film, then squeegee out the water and air, from the center to the edges. For TPU, a heat gun helps it follow the curves. This is the method for a bubble-free installation.
Maintenance: patience and gentleness
Wait a few days before lowering the windows, to allow the film to dry. Clean with a soft cloth, without abrasive products.
Frequently asked questions about car window tint
Which car window tint is allowed?
On the windshield and front windows, light must pass through at least 70%. Rear windows are unrestricted. Check the rule before sticking.
What is the price of a workshop installation?
It varies depending on the workshop and the model. Doing it yourself avoids this cost, provided you take your time.
Can you tint headlights?
On public roads, it's risky: lights must retain their original color and intensity, otherwise fine and refusal at the technical inspection. A clear protective film, on the other hand, does not change the lighting.
What is the difference between PPF film and tinted film?
PPF film is clear: it protects paint or headlights from gravel. Tinted film darkens a window or light.
