Kia running boards: MPVs and pickups in the range
The Kia Carnival is the classic example of a vehicle that calls for a running board: a tall MPV, often loaded with children, with sliding doors that provide a large opening but a high sill.
The Kia running boards in this collection meet this need, as well as that of the Tasman pickup.
The Carnival since 2015 comes with an electric running board with LED lighting: it deploys automatically when the sliding door is opened, illuminates the exit area, and then retracts under the bodywork. It is the most convenient solution at night, especially with young children getting out on their own.
For those who prefer mechanical simplicity, the 2021-2025 Carnival also has fixed side running boards. Nothing to motorize, nothing to maintain: it is also the most economical and reliable solution over time.
The Kia Tasman since 2024, the brand's first pickup, comes with an electric aluminum running board. On a pickup with deliberately high ground clearance, a retractable running board is genuinely useful: it does not compromise the approach angle when off-roading, unlike a fixed running board.
On all three models, installation is done using the original mounting points provided under the side sill, with the brackets supplied. No drilling of the bodywork is necessary: this is the point to check before any purchase, as a running board that requires drilling turns the side sill into a hotspot for corrosion.
Compatible with the Carnival and the Tasman
The Kia running boards in this collection cover the Carnival since 2015 and the 2021-2025 generation, as well as the Tasman pickup since 2024. Each set is sized for the model's wheelbase and delivered with its mounting brackets.
Compatible models: Kia Carnival since 2015, Kia Carnival 2021-2025, Kia Tasman since 2024.
Why choose this collection?
- Integrated LED lighting: the Carnival's electric running board illuminates the exit area as soon as the door is opened.
- Fixed or electric: the Carnival is available in both configurations, depending on the budget and usage.
- Aluminum: resistant to corrosion, lightweight, and requiring no paint touch-ups.
- No drilling: fixed to the original mounting points provided by Kia under the side sill.
Frequently asked questions
Does the electric running board interfere with the Carnival's sliding door? No: deployment is controlled by the door opening and the running board positions itself under the opening, not in its rail. Once the door is closed, it retracts completely under the side sill and restores the vehicle's original line.
Do you need to drill the bodywork to install a Kia running board? No, not for the models offered: they attach to the mounting points provided under the side sill with the brackets supplied. Allow one to two hours for a fixed set, and a little more for an electric model due to the wiring harness connection.
Does a fixed running board reduce the Tasman's ground clearance? Slightly, yes: that is precisely why the model offered for the Tasman is electric. When retracted, the running board does not protrude from the side sill and the pickup's approach angle remains original when off-roading.
