Do you need to remove the door trim? Not on the wireless models: the module sticks or magnets to the bottom of the door after degreasing the area. The wired versions connect to the existing courtesy lighting.
Does the projector drain the battery? No: the wireless modules have their own battery and are not connected to anything. The wired versions only turn on when the door is open, like the interior light, with negligible power consumption.
