DescriptionEverything about this product

Audi TT Mk1 8N boot spoiler: the line the first TT has been waiting for

This boot spoiler for the Audi TT Mk1, 8N type, produced from 1998 to 2006, fits the rear hatch of both the coupe and the convertible. The first TT is an iconic design, but its very rounded rear lacks definition: a boot spoiler is just what is needed to break up this curve and give the silhouette the tension it never had in production. Four finishes are available, from raw fiberglass to paint to genuine carbon fiber.

Four finishes, four budgets

  • Raw fiberglass to paint: the most economical solution, to be color-matched to your car's paintwork.
  • Gloss black fiberglass: ready to fit, it stands out sharply on a silver, red, or white TT.
  • Carbon fiber: visible varnished weave, the classic carbon spoiler finish.
  • Forged carbon: the marbled pattern achieved with compressed short fibers, rarer and deeper in the light.

Boot spoiler: what it really brings

A boot spoiler changes the way air detaches from the hatch. On the TT Mk1, this is no minor detail: the 8N generation received a small factory boot spoiler during its production run, precisely to stabilize the rear at high speeds. Adding a more pronounced boot spoiler therefore follows the very logic of the car. Visually, it elongates the rear, emphasizes the width of the rear haunches, and provides a coherent foundation if you are also fitting larger wheels or an exposed exhaust.

Technical specifications

Advertised length 108 cm · material carbon fiber or fiberglass (FRP) depending on the finish · position rear hatch · compatibility Audi TT Mk1 type 8N, model years 1998 to 2006, coupe and convertible versions, including quattro. The package contains the spoiler only: the hardware and adhesive are not specified by the manufacturer. Condition 100% new, never used.

Fitting on your TT hatch

Removal begins with a dry fit: place the spoiler on the closed hatch, mark the support points, and check the symmetry relative to the taillights. Next comes degreasing the contact area, then fixing. The manufacturer does not specify the chosen method of attachment: we therefore promise neither a drill-free installation nor a provided manual. A body shop professional will know how to choose between structural bonding and mechanical fixing depending on the finish selected. The raw to paint finish also requires sanding, a filler primer, and color matching. Compatibility should be checked according to your version before installation.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit a TT Mk2 or Mk3?
No. This spoiler is designed for the Mk1, type 8N. The hatches of the later generations have a different radius.

What is the difference between carbon and forged carbon?
Classic carbon shows a regular checkerboard weave. Forged carbon features a random, marbled pattern achieved with short fibers.

Is the fiberglass version less sturdy?
It is heavier and slightly less rigid than carbon, but perfectly suited for a boot spoiler. It is the standard material for paintable parts.

Can it be fitted on a TT Roadster?
The manufacturer lists the coupe and convertible. Perform a dry fit before any permanent fixing.

Does the gloss black version need to be repainted?
No, it comes finished. Paint remains an aesthetic choice if you want a spoiler color-matched to the bodywork.

Give your TT 8N the rear end it deserves: choose your finish and order.

Useful tools

  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Masking tape
  • Microfiber cloth

Fitting steps

  1. Dry-fit the spoiler

Place the spoiler on the tailgate or trunk of your Audi TT (MK1 (8N) or 8N, 1998-2006) without fixing it. Mark its exact position with masking tape. Check the package contents: Wing only. Before fitting, check that the version received (Carbon Fiber, Fiber Glass Gloss Black, Fiber Glass Raw to Paint) is the one you ordered.

  2. Clean and degrease

Wash the fitting area, then degrease it with isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry completely.

  3. Stick, then screw

Lay the spoiler on the double-sided tape, press for 30 seconds, then tighten the screws without forcing.

  4. Check the hold

Check that the spoiler is properly aligned and does not move. Open and close the trunk to make sure it does not touch anything.

  • Ideally fit above 59 °F (15 °C), in dry conditions.
  • Unpainted or fiberglass versions must be painted before fitting: plan a visit to a paint shop.
  • Get someone to help you hold the spoiler while positioning it.
