Fitting a steel chain around the tire, in the right order

With the vehicle stopped and the handbrake on, pass the strap through the wheel opening, close the hook and operate the cam to tighten. Distribute the elements around the tire by advancing the car a quarter turn between each fitting. Then retighten after a few meters: this is the step everyone forgets and which determines the grip.
