E-ACE A37 Mirror Dashcam: The Entire Rearview Mirror Screen Becomes Your Black Box

The concept is clever: instead of adding another box to an already cluttered windshield, the A37 straps over the original rearview mirror. You lose nothing and gain a large touchscreen that displays a live feed of the road behind. The car dashcam blends into the interior, and no one outside can tell that a recorder is constantly running. E-ACE has created one of the most user-friendly in-car cameras for everyday use.

The A37 Touchscreen: See Behind You Like Never Before

In normal operation, the screen displays the image from the waterproof rear camera: no more loaded trunks blocking the rear window, no more passengers obscuring the view, and no more blind spots when changing lanes. When you prefer, you can switch back to the classic mirror with a simple gesture. The 2K image is significantly sharper than the 1080P models in the same family, and the difference is clear when you need to read a license plate.

The touchscreen lets you lock a sequence, review a file, or adjust the framing without navigating a labyrinthine menu. The car black box can be operated with one hand while the engine is off.

2K, Sony STARVIS, and GPS: The A37's Internal Mechanics

The Sony configurations feature a STARVIS sensor on the rear camera, designed for low-light conditions: this is what separates a usable nighttime image from a blur of red dots. At the front, the wide-angle lens covers the entire road, with night vision that retains detail under streetlights. The GPS module, available with several kits, embeds speed and location data into the video file.

The camera records in a loop, and the impact sensor automatically protects the footage from a collision. With the wiring kit, the A37 provides 24-hour parking surveillance: it wakes up at the slightest impact, even when the car is locked.

  • Built-in touchscreen — instantly review videos without a phone or computer
  • Front and rear dashcam — both scenes are recorded simultaneously and time-stamped
  • Waterproof rear camera — 6 m, 10 m, or 15 m cable depending on your vehicle's size
  • Loop recording — automatic storage management; the card never fills up
  • Impact sensor — instantly locks the file upon impact

Mounting the A37 on Your Car's Rearview Mirror

The device sits over the original mirror, secured by two rubber straps. The power cable runs along the headliner to the cigarette lighter. Then there's the rear camera: it attaches above the license plate or to the rear window, and its cable runs through the interior under the trim. Choose the length based on your vehicle's size — 6 m is enough for a compact car, while 10 or 15 m is recommended for an estate or van. Installing the dashcam requires no drilling.

Does a Mirror Dashcam Obstruct Your View While Driving?

No, provided it is properly adjusted: the device takes the exact place of the existing mirror without extending onto the windshield. It is even wider, which expands the rear field of view. The only real consideration is nighttime brightness — lower it in the settings to avoid glare. This is also why the driving video recorder with a screen is so popular: it replaces an accessory rather than adding another.

Fitting steps

  1. Choose the location

Place the camera behind the rear-view mirror, out of the driver's line of sight. Before fitting, check that the version received (Sony 6 m Rear Camera, 10 m Rear Camera + Wiring Kit..., Sony 6 m Rear Camera + Wiring...) is the one you ordered.

  2. Clean and degrease

Wash the fitting area, then degrease it with isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry completely.

  3. Stick on the dashcam

Dry-fit the dashcam, peel the film off the double-sided tape, then press firmly for 30 seconds over the whole surface.

  4. Connect the power

Plug the camera into the cigarette lighter or USB socket. For permanent power, use the hardwire kit on the fuse box.

  5. Test the recording

Start the engine, check the image, date and time, and format the memory card.

  • Respect privacy: do not share footage of other people.
  • Fit above 59 °F (15 °C) and avoid washing for 24 h: the adhesive reaches full strength after that time.
