Useful tools

• Plastic trim removal kit
• Multimeter
• Terminals and heat-shrink tubing
• Isopropyl alcohol

Fitting steps

1. Prepare the power supply

Locate a protected 12 V power supply (parking lights or after ignition) on your Volkswagen and the cable route. Stated measurement for this model: 137 mm. Part designed for: Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and Passat. Check that your vehicle is one of them.

2. Remove the original emblem

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery. Remove the original emblem (adhesive or pins); on a grille, it often has to be removed.

3. Clean and degrease

Wash the fitting area, then degrease it with isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry completely.

4. Stick on the illuminated emblem

Dry-fit the illuminated emblem, peel the film off the 3M tape, then press firmly for 30 seconds over the whole surface.

5. Connect the power

Connect the positive wire to a fused 12 V supply and the ground wire to a metal point. Insulate every connection.

6. Test the lighting

Turn on the ignition and the lights: the emblem must light up steadily.

• Check the regulations: an illuminated front logo may be banned on public roads depending on its color.
• Fit above 59 °F (15 °C) and avoid washing for 24 h: the adhesive reaches full strength after that time.
