50 cm x 3 m car window tint film roll: the rear tint you choose
This car window tint film roll is uncut and measures 50 cm wide by 3 m long, enough to cover the rear side windows of most sedans, compact cars, and SUVs. It is available in six tint levels, from 1% very dark to 50% lighter. Your passengers travel cool and shielded from prying eyes, your children no longer have the sun in their eyes, and your car gains a bolder look.
The six tints of this window tint film
The figure indicates the light transmission, the amount of light that passes through the film. At 1% and 5%, the rear becomes almost opaque from the outside. At 15% and 25%, the tint remains dark but allows a glimpse of the interior. At 35% and 50%, the window is only smoked, with better visibility toward the rear at night.
- Sun filter: the film reduces the heat entering through the rear windows in the height of summer.
- UV protection to slow the fading of fabrics and interior plastics.
- Less glare for passengers, and more readable rear screens.
- Privacy effect: items left on the back seat are less visible from the street.
- Uncut roll: you cut each piece to the exact shape of your window.
Car window tint: what the regulations say
In France, the windshield and front windows must allow at least 70% of light to pass through: none of the tints on this roll can be applied to them. They are reserved for the rear side windows and the rear window, provided the car has both exterior rearview mirrors. A tint that is too dark at the front exposes you to a fine and points deducted during an inspection.
Applying the tint film to the rear windows yourself
Successful car window tint installation requires a wind-free environment and a perfectly clean window. Cut a template slightly larger than the window, spray soapy water on the glass and on the adhesive side, apply the film to the inside, then squeegee out the water and bubbles from the center toward the edges. A flexible squeegee and a sharp utility knife are essential. Allow it to dry for a few days before handling the windows.
Frequently asked questions about the tint film roll
Is a 3 m roll enough for one car?
It generally covers the two rear side windows of a sedan or SUV. Measure your windows and, if you also want to cover the rear window, plan for a second roll.
Which tint should I choose for a family car?
The 15% or 25% offers a good compromise between coolness, privacy, and rear visibility at night.
How to avoid bubbles?
Work with soapy water, free of dust, and squeegee out the water in overlapping passes with a flexible squeegee.
Is the film resistant to washing?
It is applied to the inside of the window: exterior washes do not reach it.
