Hippcron Parktronic reversing radar: your eyes in the back, backed by data
Reversing into a crowded parking lot shouldn't be a gamble. With this Hippcron Parktronic reversing radar, four sensors scan the rear area and a small LCD screen displays the remaining distance while the buzzer guides your maneuver. You gain a few centimeters of precision—exactly the difference between a successful park and a scratched bumper. That's what you expect from a well-designed car parking sensor.
The Hippcron's 6.8 cm LCD screen, designed for a quick glance
The display measures 6.8 x 2.3 cm: large enough to read the distance without taking your eyes off the road, discreet enough not to clutter the dashboard. It combines a digital readout with the position of the obstacle, left or right, which is very helpful when a pillar approaches at an angle. This reversing radar with distance display tells you both "how far" and "on which side".
Eight sensor colors are available: gold, silver, champagne gold, white, red, black, blue, and gray. By choosing the one closest to your car's bodywork, the heads become almost invisible from two meters away. A discreet reversing radar always looks more elegant than a row of black dots on a light-colored bumper.
40 kHz electronics and compact housing of the Parktronic Hippcron
The control module measures 90 x 61 x 22 mm and slips behind a trunk trim without forcing it. It operates on 12 V DC, tolerates a range of 10.5 to 16 V—useful when the battery is weak—and consumes only 100 to 300 mA. The sensors emit at 40 kHz and detect from 0.3 to 2 meters. This 40 kHz ultrasonic detection remains the benchmark technology for parking assistance because it does not depend on light or the cleanliness of a lens.
The electronics accept an operating range of -30 to 80 °C, covering both a freezing night and a sun-baked parking lot in August. The kit is complete: housing, display-buzzer, four sensors with 2.5 m cables each, hole saw, power cable, double-sided adhesives, and instructions.
- Hole saw included—the right diameter is in the box, no need to run to the hardware store
- 2.5 m sensor cables—long enough to reach the housing even on an estate car or SUV
- Progressive audible alarm—the beeping speeds up as the obstacle approaches
- Eight head colors—for rear parking assistance that matches the vehicle's color
- Minimal power consumption—100 to 300 mA, with no effect on the battery charge
- CE certification—European compliance of the module and sensors
Installing the Hippcron radar: drilling, height, and wiring
The principle: four 22 mm holes distributed across the rear bumper, sensors angled slightly downward, at a height of approximately 50 to 70 cm from the ground. The housing is then connected to the reverse light power supply: the system only wakes up when reverse gear is engaged, without any power draw the rest of the time. A well-prepared reversing radar installation takes half a day; if you hesitate to drill, any mechanic can do the job.
Do you need a reversing radar if you already have a camera?
The two do not do the same job. A camera shows, a radar measures. On a curved bumper, the image flattens distances and you think you have room when there are only twenty centimeters left. The 4-sensor reversing radar fills this gap by providing a figure and a sound that you incorporate without thinking about it. Many motorists who equip an older car install both, in this order: the radar first, then the camera.
Order your Parktronic from a car equipment specialist
Becquet Voiture selects driver assistance systems like the rest of its catalog: by checking the actual dimensions, the length of the wiring harnesses, and the clarity of the instructions before listing a model. You will find here the information that is missing elsewhere, in French, to choose a parking sensor kit that will really fit your car.
