Risingon QP1002 reversing radar: the universal 12 V kit, plain and simple

No screen to fit into the dashboard, no menu to configure: this Risingon QP1002 car reversing radar focuses on the essentials, four 22 mm sensors and an audible alarm. Engage reverse gear, the system activates, and the beep does the rest. A universal 12 V reversing radar of this type remains the fastest and most affordable way to make maneuvering safer in a car that has never been equipped with one.

Seven sensor colors for a seamless rear bumper

Gray, black, white, silver, blue, red, and champagne gold: the range covers the most common bumper colors. A well-matched set makes all the difference to the eye, and avoids the line of four dark dots that immediately betrays an aftermarket installation. This rear parking sensor blends into the line as soon as you choose the right shade.

The body combines plastic and aluminum, an assembly that withstands gravel better than a low-end all-plastic one. The pads remain flush, without a protruding collar, for a visually neutral car reversing sensor.

Ultrasonics and control unit: the QP1002 measurement principle

Each sensor emits an acoustic pulse at 40 kHz; the control unit measures the echo return time and calculates the distance to the object. It is this calculation, repeated continuously, that makes the tone accelerate as you approach. The kit operates at a nominal 12 V, over a range of 9 to 16 V, from -30 to 80 °C, with obstacle detection from 0 to 2.5 m. The associated display supports -20 to 60 °C.

  • 22 mm ultrasonic sensor — four standard-diameter sensors, easy to replace
  • Reversing alarm buzzer — tone accelerates as you approach, without a screen to install
  • Universal 12 V kit — no intervention on the vehicle's original electronics
  • Plastic and aluminum body — improved resistance to road debris
  • Seven colors — to match the sensors to the bumper shade

Wiring the QP1002 to your car's reversing light

The installation follows the classic layout: four 22 mm holes distributed across the rear bumper, the cables routed up to the control unit housed in the trunk, the power taken from the positive wire of the reversing light. The system therefore consumes nothing as long as reverse gear is not engaged. A no-drill reversing radar installation is not feasible with flush-mounted sensors. Maintain a height of approximately 50 to 60 cm from the ground and check the bumper material, to be verified depending on the version.

Is a simple buzzer enough, without a display?

For the vast majority of maneuvers, yes. The ear interprets the acceleration of the beep very well, and the absence of a screen avoids an extra cable in the interior as well as a box on the dashboard. The display becomes interesting if you often maneuver to the centimeter or if you want to know which side the obstacle is on. In this case, turn to a reversing radar kit with an LED screen rather than this buzzer version.

The essential reversing kit, selected by a French specialist

Not all cars deserve the same equipment budget: on a second vehicle, a family van, or a daily driver, a simple and well-designed kit does exactly the same job. That is why we keep car parking sensors with buzzers in our catalog, alongside display kits. Our team answers in French if you are hesitating between the two approaches.

  • Drill with hole saw
  • Plastic trim removal kit
  • Multimeter
  • Metal drill bits
  • Anti-rust product

Fitting steps

  1. Prepare the fitting

Measure and mark the sensor positions on your vehicle's bumper, at an even height. Before fitting, check that the version received (Gray, Red, Black) is the one you ordered.

  2. Cut the power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching the electrical circuit.

  3. Choose the mounting

Depending on the version, the sensors are fitted with or without drilling. Hold the part in place and locate the original points before drilling anything.

  4. Secure the sensors

Secure the sensors with the supplied screws or adhesive, then check that it holds.

  5. Connect the power

Connect the positive wire to a fused 12 V supply and the ground wire to a metal point. Insulate every connection.

  6. Test the sensors

Bring an obstacle close to each sensor in reverse and check the beeps.

  • Professional fitting is recommended: bumper drilling and wiring.
