ANENG BT175 car battery tester: know before a breakdown, 12 V and 24 V
The ANENG BT175 car battery tester answers the question we ask ourselves every winter: will my battery hold up? In a few seconds, its crocodile clips measure the state of health, the cold cranking amps (CCA), internal resistance, and voltage of a 12 V or 24 V battery. You'll know if it's good, needs charging, or needs replacing before you find yourself on a January morning with an engine that won't turn over.
Why test your battery instead of replacing it "just in case"
A car that won't start isn't necessarily due to a dead battery: a simple lack of charge, a worn alternator, or a poor connection can produce the same symptoms. The BT175 makes the difference. It displays the remaining lifespan as a percentage, the state of charge, and a clear verdict: good, needs charging, needs replacing, or defective. You avoid buying a new battery unnecessarily, or conversely, keeping a battery that will fail you at the worst possible moment.
- CCA measurement from 50 to 1999 A in precise mode, and fast mode for capacities from 3 to 200 Ah.
- 4 battery types: standard lead-acid (STD), AGM, gel, and EFB, used in stop-start cars.
- 6 measurement standards: CCA, IEC, SAE, EN, DIN, and Ah, to directly read the value printed on your battery label.
- Voltage range from 8 to 36 V: cars, vans, motorhomes, motorcycles, forklifts.
- Poor connection alert: the clip icons flash and the device beeps if a clip is poorly attached.
- Backlit LCD screen readable under a dark hood, with no batteries required: it is powered by the battery being tested.
12 V and 24 V battery tester: how to get a reliable measurement
Turn off the ignition and remove the key. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal and the black clip to the negative terminal. Choose the battery type (STD, AGM, GEL, or EFB), then the standard and value indicated on its label, for example 600 A EN. Confirm: after a few seconds, the screen displays the voltage, internal resistance, measured cranking current, lifespan percentage, and verdict. For an accurate measurement, test a battery that has not been charged or subjected to demand in the preceding minutes.
Warning: the BT175 is designed for lead batteries (open lead, AGM, gel, EFB). It is not suitable for lithium batteries.
Car battery tester or multimeter: what's the difference?
A multimeter gives a voltage, and a battery can display 12.6 V while being unable to provide the cranking current. The BT175 measures the internal resistance and calculates the available current: this is the value that tells you if the battery will start your engine in extreme cold. A real diagnostic tool, not just a voltmeter.
Frequently asked questions about the BT175 battery tester
Does the BT175 work on a 24 V truck battery?
Yes, it accepts 12 V and 24 V batteries, in a range from 8 to 36 V.
