Fitting steps

  1. Secure the opening

    Open the tailgate or hood of your Lexus ES (2007-2014) and have a helper or a prop hold it. Check the package contents: 2 struts (full pair). Compare with the original part number 534400W130 / 534500W101.

  2. Note the direction

    Note which way round the old strut was fitted: usually the wide end at the top.

  3. Replace the struts

    Lift the ball-joint clip with a screwdriver, remove the strut and clip in the new one, wide end at the top.

  4. Test the opening

    Open and close several times: it must hold firmly.

  • Replace both struts at the same time.
